Tunnel Washer Operator

Summary:

Responsible for operating two Tunnel Washing Systems

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Operate and insure the continuous, proper and safe processing of linen through the tunnel washing systems.
2. Execute all operator required maintenance
3. Meet and maintain established standards of production as required.
4. Maintains work area cleanliness at all times during shift.
5. Communicate with plant maintenance staffregarding odd or improper machine functions.
6. All other duties assigned.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred but not necessarily. Previous laundry tunnel washer experience a plus but not required. The candidate should have basic computer input skills to interface with machines.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employees is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Able to lift and carry over 25 pounds.

Must be able to handle and view blood, body fluids and fecal matter contained in soiled linen occasionally.

Must be able to pull and or push laundry carts or wheels weighing up to 300 pounds when full of clean linen.

Must be able to pull and separate tangled damp or dry linen which may not exit tunnel, press or dryers after malfunction.

Work Environment:

Employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise levels are usually moderate.

Must be able to work in a hot and noisy environment.
