Job Summary:

The Environmental, Health & Safety Manager , reporting to the Tennessee Operations Plant Manager, is an integral part of the leadership team accountable for accomplishment of business objectives consistent with Arconic values. The EH&S Leader's primary responsibilities are to facilitate the implementation of EH&S and Plant Protection systems including safety, industrial hygiene, medical, security, and fire protection programs to minimize the impact on employees' health and well-being, the environment, and plant’s critical assets.

Responsibilities for Internal Candidates

In this role, you will:

  • Interfacing, coaching, and influencing the plant’s leadership to integrate and manage Health & Safety consistent with the risk and other aspects of the business.
  • Setting Environmental, Health & Safety goals and objectives at the plant level, tracking progress vs. goals and the reporting of results internally and externally, with alignment to Arconic Corporate objectives.
  • Lead and direct the fatality prevention process to identify and actively control unacceptable and marginal fatality risks.
  • Champion the integration of Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) principles and tools into the plant business processes.
  • Staffing, developing, and sustaining the plant Environmental, Health & Safety organization’s capability and capacity sufficient to support the facility’s needs.
  • Coordinating Environmental, Health & Safety regulatory reviews, interpretations, evaluations regarding impacts on the plant and its operations.
  • Developing, maintaining, and communicating operational controls, standards, and work practices to meet legal, regulatory, and Company requirements.
  • Ensuring risk assessment techniques are in place and capable of identifying situations that can lead to systemic organizational failures in the location’s Environmental, Health & Safety Management Systems.
  • Maintaining the plant’s Environmental, Health & Safety information systems so they are accurate and capable of providing data needed to meet the plant's strategic, legal, financial, and social reporting needs.

Also note:

  • Implement the Business Unit’s and Arconic’s Environmental, Health & Safety policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Ensure the location’s Environmental, Health & Safety incidents are reported, investigated, and entered into the Arconic Incident Management System in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure the location’s Environmental, Health & Safety Arconic Self-Assessment protocols are updated on an annual basis and action plans to address gaps to closure are completed.
  • Facilitate integration of error prevention and human performance tools as part of the overall incident prevention strategy.
  • Coordinate the activities of the location’s Fatality Prevention Team, Joint EHS Lead Team, Health & Safety Lead Team, and Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) Steering Team.
  • Provide leadership and direction on the integration of HOP principles and tools.
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate filing of necessary records to demonstrate compliance with applicable federal, state, and Arconic programs.

You have: (required)

  • B.S. degree in Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Sciences or other science related field.
  • Must have at least 10 years of experience in health, safety and environmental regulatory compliance, incident prevention, investigation and/or industrial hygiene.
  • Must have experience with Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) principles with a track record of Human Performance integration across a site or large department.
  • Knowledgeable in Environmental compliance with US EPA and state and local requirements.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Exceptional Candidates also have: (preferred)

  • Degree in Health, Environmental or Safety preferred.
  • Certification as a Safety Professional (CSP), Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Professional Engineer (PE) or Certified Environmental Manager (CEM or similar)
  • TN State requirements (air, water, waste, stormwater, etc.).
