Travel OB/Labor & Delivery RN – Sitka, Alaska

Facility Type: Critical Access Hospital
Location: Sitka, AK
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Shift: 12-hour shifts (day/night variable); must be flexible and willing to float
Weekly Hours: 36 hours/week

Overview:

We are a Critical Access Hospital seeking a skilled and compassionate Labor & Delivery RN to join our team in Sitka, Alaska . Our hospital provides comprehensive OB services to our remote island community, making this a vital and rewarding opportunity to support families through birth and postpartum care. This is a travel contract position with flexible shift needs and a supportive team environment.

Required at Submission:

• Active Alaska RN License
• Current Flu Vaccination
• Must be willing to float to Med-Surg and ED if needed
• Must be able to work in both L&D and Postpartum settings

Certifications Required:

• BLS (at time of submission)
• ACLS, PALS, and NRP (required by start date)

Job Duties Include:

• Full-spectrum OB nursing: antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, C-section recovery, and newborn care
• 1:1 labor support, fetal monitoring, pain management, labor coaching
• High-risk OB triage and stabilization for transfer
• Patient/family education and discharge planning
• Breastfeeding support and newborn assessments
• Participation in on-call rotation for OB and emergency C-sections
• Documentation using PIER/SOAPE formats and active interdisciplinary collaboration
• Delegation and supervision of CNAs and support staff

Experience Preferred:

• Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery nursing
• Experience in rural/critical access settings strongly preferred
• Familiarity with NICHD fetal heart monitoring terminology
• Flexibility to assist other departments during low census

Compensation:

• Hourly Pay: $87.20 (stipends included)
• One-time Travel Reimbursement: $500
