About the Unit

The Senior Tax Accountant plays a pivotal role within the Finance department, reporting directly to the Senior Tax Manager. This professional is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and preparation and review of complex corporate and partnership tax filings. Ideal candidates for the Senior Tax Accountant position must be self-driven individuals capable of working independently and able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

This position will be based out of our Tampa, Florida office and will offer a hybrid work schedule. 

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of tax workpapers for the U.S (Federal and state) and Canadian income tax returns and quarterly U.S. and state estimated tax installments.
  • Responsible for the timely filing of various U.S., Canadian operational returns and related party U.S. tax returns including:
    • Canada - Prepare and file GST/PST/HST/QST returns, prepare federal/provincial income tax installments.
    • U.S. Operational taxes - File tangible business and unclaimed property tax returns, file sales & use tax returns, review sales transactions and vendor invoices for sales tax assessment requirements
    • Foreign Tax Reporting Forms - prepare and file annual U.S. income tax returns for Yara related party entities, file annual withholding tax forms.
  • Responsible for the accumulation and documentation of the annual transfer pricing studies for the U.S. and Canadian legal entities.
  • Responsible for preparation of year-end tax provision reporting.
  • Ownership of maintaining federal and state tax depreciation records.
  • Ownership of key contact role including interaction with public officials regarding audits of various operational tax filings and provide support for income tax audits.
  • Ownership of tax compliance filing calendar.
  • Manage the sales tax exemption database and ensure client resale certificates are up-to-date and complete.
  • Monitor and evaluate opportunities for tax optimization.
  • Collaborate closely with the accounting and finance team to ensure accurate tax treatment of financial transactions and alignment between tax reporting and general ledger activities.
  • Assist in the creation of a SuperFund tax exemption database and collection of requisite certificates from customers.
  • Research various federal and state tax matters and provide conclusions to stakeholders.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments.
  • Provide support with various special tax-related projects as they arise.

Profile

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s in Taxation or CPA preferred).
  • 4+ Years experience in corporate taxation with a multinational corporation or large public accounting firm.
  • Experience with tax and accounting software (Avalara, SAP).
  • Strong knowledge of corporate and partnership tax rules.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. tax code, corporate income tax provisions and transfer pricing rules.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
