Location: Intermountain Health St George Regional Hospital, St George, Utah

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 hours/week, full-time

As part of our Radiation Oncology Department , you will have the unique opportunity to collaborate with the CAMPEP-accredited UNLV Medical Physics program, mentoring residents and shaping the future of medical physics.

Your Role

We are seeking an ABR Certified or Board Eligible Medical Physicist to join our dynamic team of 4 physicians, 2 physicists, and 3 dosimetrists. You will work across two sites in St George and Cedar City, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment including:

  • Varian Truebeams
  • VisionRT SGRT
  • Bravos HDR unit
  • GE wide bore CT with gating capabilities

In this role, you will thrive in a busy clinical environment, prioritizing patient care while supporting your team and working independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the Radiation Safety Officer , coordinating and enforcing safety protocols.
  • Write and update the Radiation Safety Manual and ensure compliance.
  • Participate in the Radiation Safety Committee overseeing byproduct material usage.
  • Engage with state and federal agencies on radiation control regulations.
  • Oversee the acquisition, transfer, and disposal of radioactive materials.
  • Train non-radiology users on radiation-producing equipment.
  • Conduct periodic surveys and quality control checks.
  • Communicate effectively with regulators, doctors, and patients to ensure a safe environment.

What We’re Looking For

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in health physics, medical physics, or related field.
  • Certification from recognized specialty boards (e.g., ABHP, ABMP).
  • One year of full-time radiation safety experience.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage conflict.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with annual equipment physics testing.
  • Certification for MQSA mammography equipment testing.
  • Recognized as a Qualified Expert in the state of practice.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to see and read information, labels, and operate monitors.
  • Frequent verbal communication with patients and care providers.
  • Manual dexterity for operating complex equipment.
  • Ability to lift and transfer patients and equipment.
  • Expected to stand for extended periods and navigate busy environments.

Hourly Rate: $97.15 - $149.93 (dependent on experience)
