Network Engineer - Restaurant POS Systems

About the Role
We're seeking a skilled and proactive Network Engineer to support the deployment, configuration, and ongoing management of network infrastructure for restaurant point-of-sale (POS) environments. You'll play a critical role in ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable connectivity for our clients' systems, often in complex real-world conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement wired and wireless networks for new restaurant locations.
- Configure and manage routers, firewalls, managed switches, access points, and other network hardware.
- Deploy and support VLANs, static IP schemes, and isolated POS networks.
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues remotely and on-site (as required).
- Collaborate with the onboarding and support teams to ensure seamless POS installations.
- Maintain detailed documentation of network setups, configurations, and change logs.
- Ensure network setups align with PCI compliance and internal security standards.
Requirements
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering preferably within the restaurant, hospitality, or retail POS industry.
- Strong understanding of: TCP/IP, DHCP, NAT, VLANs, and network isolation; Firewall configuration and security principles; Ubiquiti UniFi, TP-Link Omada, MikroTik, or similar platforms.
- Ability to perform remote diagnostics using network monitoring and access tools.
- Experience configuring and managing commercial-grade Wi-Fi and mesh networks.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for on-site installations or escalations.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications: CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or equivalent.
- Experience with cloud-managed networks (e.g., Meraki, UniFi Cloud Controller).
- Familiarity with restaurant POS systems and their network requirements (e.g., payment terminal routing,
KDS, printers).
