JOB SUMMARY
The EHS Manager is accountable for developing, implementing and managing the environmental, health, and safety programs, policies and procedures for LeachGarner – Attleboro sites. Must be familiar with federal, state and local safety laws and ensure compliance with all appropriate safety and environmental regulations. Responsible for maintenance of safety/environmental statistics and accident records and for all associated governmental reporting requirements.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Facilitate, support and coordinate EH&S initiatives and activities; program implementation and compliance;
- Develop and Lead Safety Committee meetings, internal site inspections, audits and accident investigations at the Attleboro plants
- Develop and implement EH&S rules, procedures and programs to insure the continuous improvement of EH&S programs, and to meet company and/or Federal, State, and Local regulatory requirements at assigned sites.
- Maintain Environmental regulatory sampling and reporting schedule and ensure submittals are completed on time.
- Facilitate improvements to meet all environmental sampling limits with appropriate technical resources.
- Inspect, audit, assess and sample site activities to ensure EH&S requirements are observed at assigned sites
- Coach/ Teach operations team on understanding and seeing safety and environmental policies, procedures and requirements
- Facilitate and create visual management for metrics, behaviors and hazards to continue to develop overall awareness
- Maintain the SDS/ MSDS database; control what is approved to be in the facility, coach/ train all employees on accessing MSDSs and train on appropriate storage, handling and overall awareness
- Implement safety management systems, which include written standards, training requirements, monitoring/auditing elements and corrective action steps. Systems shall exceed compliance and create value added enhancement to plant operations whenever feasible
- Implement industrial safety programs and upgrade with continuous improvement as the objective. Programs include Hearing Conservation, Radiation Safety, Respiratory Protection, Heat Stress, and Drug Free Workplace, among others
- Maintain Environmental Management System (EMS) Manual for the facility
- Detailed knowledge of the principles and requirements of ISO standards
- Maintain Understanding of the health and safety obligations placed on employers under State and Federal law
- Provide personal leadership and professional guidance to operations in performance of safety management requirements including incident investigation, safety training and communications, inspection and auditing, hazard assessment, and implementation of site business safety plans
- Function as the point of contact for any local, state, or federal regulatory inspectors in the absence of the respective Environmental or Safety Manager
- Coordinate, facilitate and participate in safety committee meetings
- Perform indoctrination training of new employees; plan and coordinate safety and environmental training, as required
- Evaluate, specify and audit the proper application of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Attend professional training classes and periodic business association meetings
- Coach, Facilitate and ensure protocol for incident investigations and completed on time with root cause analysis.
- Track completion of corrective actions identified through audits or investigations
- Insure that all waste materials are properly stored and shipped off site for disposal. Responsible for signing and proper filing of manifest for any hazardous waste shipments
- Obtain current Safety Data Sheets for all products being used at the facility.
- Function as the Emergency Coordinator for any environmental, safety or security response activities
- Perform above tasks professionally and thoroughly with minimal supervision and follow up

Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent full-time experience
- 5+ years working in a manufacturing environment
- Highly motivated, dependable, results-oriented, and able to identify critical path issues, prioritize, and schedule activities accordingly
- Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience training others and speaking/ presenting in front of large groups
- Excellent time management and can balance between urgent reactive needs and improvement activities
- Ability to work protracted or irregular work hours
- Proficient computer skills
- Experience setting strategies for execution through teams
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing/ Continuous Improvement
- Strong and proven Root Cause Analysis skills
