Job Title: Benefits Manager

Location: Yuba City, CA (Hybrid: Onsite Tue–Thu, Remote Mon/Fri, Every Other Friday Off)

Salary: $110,000 – $120,000

About the Opportunity:

An established, employee-focused organization is seeking a Benefits Manager with self-funded/self-insured health benefits experience to lead and manage benefits for approximately employees. The team values collaboration, growth, and strong employee relationships. This is a hybrid role offering flexibility and a chance to make a real impact in a friendly and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the administration and strategic planning of self-funded employee benefit programs (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, etc.)
  • Act as primary liaison between the company, third-party vendors, brokers, and internal departments
  • Provide benefit guidance and education to employees, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and policies
  • Partner with HR and Payroll teams to ensure proper benefit deductions and data accuracy
  • Lead annual open enrollment processes and recommend plan improvements
  • Maintain benefits data within HRIS/payroll systems (UKG preferred)
  • Supervise and mentor the Benefits Administrator
  • Analyze utilization and cost data to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality of offerings

What we’re looking for:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Benefits Manager or similar role, serving 400+ employees
  • Union experience a plus
  • Strong experience with self-funded/self-insured health plans
  • In-depth understanding of relevant compliance requirements (ERISA, COBRA, ACA, etc.)
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, or Business Administration
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with payroll systems (UKG preferred)
  • Collaborative mindset with strong communication and leadership skills

  • Onsite: Tuesday–Thursday (7:30 AM–5:00 PM)
  • Remote: Monday & Friday
  • Every other Friday off!
