Benefits Manager (Temporary)

Location: Onsite – Downtown Oakland, CA

Compensation: $70 to $85/hour (DOE)

Duration: Through July 2025, with possible extension through December 2025

We are seeking an experienced Benefits Manager to join a dynamic and mission-driven organization based in Downtown Oakland . This is a temporary opportunity through July 2025 , with potential to extend through the end of the year. The ideal candidate is a hands-on benefits expert who thrives in a collaborative, lean team environment and is passionate about supporting employees through thoughtful, compliant, and strategic benefits administration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with HRBPs, Finance, Legal, and Procurement to align on program goals and strategy.
• Team Development: Support and mentor benefits team members, fostering professional development and knowledge-sharing.
• Employee Support: Provide high-touch support to employees for benefits questions, enrollment issues, and claims resolution.
• Benefits Administration: Lead/co-lead the day-to-day management of health insurance, wellness, retirement, leave programs, and FSA plans. Ensure timely enrollment, premium payments, invoice accuracy, and compliance with applicable laws.
• Communications: Develop and deliver clear communications about benefits programs and updates, including eligibility, plan changes, and open enrollment.
• Vendor Management: Maintain strong relationships with carriers and providers. Negotiate contracts and ensure top-tier service and responsiveness.
• Data Analysis & Budgeting: Analyze benefits usage and costs, identify savings opportunities, and contribute to forecasting and budgeting.
• Compliance: Ensure benefits programs are in full compliance with all federal and state regulations.
